Introduction: Relax, You're Home Now - But Don't Get Too Comfortable

Good, you're here! You are accepted here - gay, straight, we don't care. But don't get too comfortable. Your contribution didn't end by joining this community, it starts with it. We welcome you to the family, but like in all families there are responsibilities that precede comfort, but the good news is you're not exactly comfortable now - nor should you be.

Like what you see so far? How many people will you tell? Will you encourage them to tell others? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then you're not ready. It is easy to see injustice and get angry, and it is deceptively easy to find yourself not knowing what to do with that anger. Do not let your anger stalemate you as nothing ever gets accomplished this way.
  • Read. Even if you've been a minority your whole life, there are still things to learn and you do yourself a disservice by choosing ignorance.

  • Speak. To anyone. To everyone. The first step in being perceived as an equal is behaving as an equal and there is nothing more American than exercising your right to speak freely.

  • Act. This is not our movement, this is YOUR movement. It only works because you make it work. Take our suggestions, make your own suggestions, and be dissatisfied until there is no more legal discrimination.

So, are you ready? If so, consider this. We will not win this struggle because we outnumber our opposition. We will not win because it is easy. We will not win by might mastered. We will win because we are right. We cannot rest until we win.
